Cropin helped 2scale in the West African digitally transforming and create a traceable rice value chain
2scale, an incubator in the West African country of Ivory Coast, drives inclusive business collaborations between companies and producer organizations that aim to create commercially viable opportunities for African food industries, which are mutually beneficial and sustainable. The millers in the regions engage with smallholder farmers who have limited access to technology.
It was imperative to digitize operations to organize and efficiently manage it. 2scale had to address the following challenges in its rice production, procurement, and processing:
Cropin digitized farmer and farm data and completed geotagging and area audits of rice farms in the Agboville and Hambol regions of Ivory Coast. This enabled remote monitoring across crop stages and crop variety configuration/selection. Cropin utilized real-time data insights to provide advisories for decision-making. For the farmers, Cropin extended advisories to be followed across multiple stages of crop cultivation and alerts on pest infestations and crop diseases.
